Over 240 demonstrators refused asylum seekers from DR Congo and supporters, assembled outside the West Midlands Home Office reporting centre yesterday the 12th April.

Initially the police tried to hem the demonstrators into a tiny area on the grounds of the reporting centre and were constantly pushing more and more people into the same area. Eventually the demonstrators started to push back and after a brief struggle (in which two of the demonstrators were arrested) forced the police back onto the main road and there the demonstrators stayed for the next hour and a half.

Singing/chanting/dancing became the order of afternoon for the demonstrators.

Eventually more police arrived well over a hundred, at this stage the demonstrators being of sound mind and a benevolent disposition gave the street back to the police.
